
Our Story
CBO was founded by Tracey H. Kartsone in 1989. Born with an exceptional work ethic, Tracey worked multiple jobs throughout high school and college. While going to school, she worked at a medical billing office during the day and a popular restaurant waiting tables in the evenings. After years of learning about medical billing, she began to see more and more of the inefficiencies and lack of care for healthcare providers that plagued the medical industry. She knew things could be done better. Making a risky and difficult decision to leave her job, she started her own medical billing company that uniquely provided practice management services in addition to billing. As Tracey began getting more and more clients from referrals, she began growing her arsenal of expert billers. Starting as a one-woman show in a 1,300-square-foot office, CBO now has more than 40 dedicated employees working in a state-of-the-art 10,000-square-foot office servicing over 30 clients across Utah. After 35 years of steady growth within Utah, Central Billing Office finally expanded across the border and now provides its expert services across state lines.
